Family Ministries Leader
July 9, 2008
Let’s face it – - if we’re serious about reaching people far from God in north-east Ohio, it’s going to mean going multi-generational. Catalyst is more than 20/30-somethings on mission together. We want to reclaim the 1st Century’s passion for all generations. This includes families.
With renovations at the125 aiming for completion in time for the new school year, we’ve been searching for just the right man to help lead our age-specific ministry to children and their parents.
We’ve found our man. Introducing Dave Sparks of Ravenna.
The guy has a plethora of pastoral experience, a family that loves Christ, and a teddy bear heart. Dave’s volunteer staff role will entail executing new ministry structures including implementing an safe, engaging, Jesus-centered teaching environment at the125 on Sunday mornings. As Dave empowers Ministry Team Leaders in each kids area, he will also work at shepherding parents and volunteers.
Bringing a clean slate to Catalyst KIDS will mean new changes during the months of July and August so that we’re ready to rock ‘n roll this September. Current and new Catalyst Kids volunteers will be undergoing a new criminal background screening led by Dave in the coming weeks.
Please be praying for Dave, his family, and Catalyst Kids as we seek to reach more people far from God this fall season!
1st Impressions…

This email came in today from a family in West Akron that’s visited Catalyst twice in the past 3 weeks. As we continue forward with our church plant, may these words encourage our hearts and re-focus us on our shared vision for impacting the greater Akron/Kent metro-area:
“We enjoyed the service very much. It is all about Christ! It is ALL about the point! I’m excited for my children to hear the gospel explained in a real and captivating way. Thank you! We will see you again!”

Phil & Barb Chalmers of Aurora welcomed Jacob into their family this past week!
Jacob was born June 30th in Cincinnati, weighing in at 7 lbs, 6 oz and 18 inches tall.
Please keep Phil & Barb in your prayers as they navigate sleepless nights and the adoption finalization process these next few months.

For our volunteers serving this Saturday:
Our Catalyst jumper booth will be located across the street from the125 near the front of Water Street Tavern.
Please arrive 5 minutes early to “learn the ropes” of the jumper, helium balloons, and water (which will be shuttled from ice chests in the125).
Please wear a Catalyst shirt on Saturday – - it promotes team unity and cuts through confusion for people coming by. Be sure to also have on sun screen.
Also, if you have an extra cooler w/ice, go ahead and drop it off early Saturday at the125 if possible.
Thanks for helping out! Remember, we’re making a 1st Impression on hundreds of individuals this weekend…
